Mosquitoes are dangerous transmitters of disease. Each year, about 300 million people are infected with diseases such as Malaria and Zika and nearly one million people die. Other deadly mosquito-vectored diseases are West Nile fever and Dengue.
Microbial mosquito larvicides have gained considerable acceptance in recent years.
Magalit® is a biolarvicide to control mosquitos larvae in stagnant
water in a water dispersible granule formulation (WDG).
Magalit® is based on a Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. israelensis (Bti) preparation. It can be applied by ground or aerial spraying on infected water surfaces.
Magalit® offers extended control of all Aedes species, and has
been found to be effective against the following species:
Culex - Culex obscurus, Culex axillicola, Culex bicki, Culex accelerans,
Culex amazonensis, Culex lineata
Culiseta - Culiseta alaskaensis, Culiseta annulata, Culiseta impatiens,
Culiseta inornata, Culiseta particeps
Anopheles - Anopheles gambiae, Anopheles apicimacula, Anopheles
aztecus, Anopheles earlei, Anopheles fausti, Anopheles flumin, etc.
Black Flies (Family Simuliidae) - Fungus gnats, Domestic flies
Selective biological insecticide
Environmentally friendly - not toxic to non-target organisms, fish and other aquatic life
Rapid control - usually between 24-48 hours
No resistance has been detected in field populations of mosquitoes
Easily dispresed in water
